How to clean a beaded dress

Beaded dresses are often dry-clean only, but you may wash them at home to save time and money. Wash your beaded gown by hand in a mild detergent, air dry and never use any fabric softeners. Treat the gown with care to prevent the beads from loosening or falling off.

1. Fill a bucket or tub with cold water and two to three tbsp. of detergent. Never use bleach or strong laundry detergent on dry-clean only items.
2. Dip the beaded dress into the bucket of soapy water. Lift the dress up and down gently to swish the water and create some resistance on the fabric. Use the cloth to gently wipe stains and the underarm area.
3. Empty the bucket and refill it with clean, cold water. Dip the dress into the water and swish it around, lifting it up and down to rinse out the detergent.
4. Lay the dress onto an opened towel. Roll it up and squeeze to remove excess water. Repeat this on another dry towel if necessary.
